STRAPS BUYING GUIDE

A neck strap may be ideal for one outing and completely wrong for the next. A harness can spread the load during a long day in the field, while a wrist strap keeps a camera or binoculars close to hand when speed matters. The problem is that conventional straps can be awkward to change, so users often stick with whatever is already attached. Here we share an overview of the Connect Optic Guard System with quick release system.

The Connect Quick Release System is designed primarily for use with a camera, with shorter 6cm tethers. Tested to up to 90kg on a hanging test, and 20kg on a 25cm drop test, the Connect system is designed to support even the largest camera kits.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Here we try to address some of the common questions we get asked at shows.  If you have a question that is missing, feel free to contact us at info@vanguardworld.co.uk

Do I need a quick release camera or binocular strap?

No. If you're happy with the strap you have fitted, or you don't mind the time changing the straps, you can use the traditional fitting. The quick release system becomes useful if you want to swap your straps with ease.

Is a quick release strap only of use if using different straps?

No. Being able to remove and attach the strap with ease means it's easy to take off when you pack your camera away, especially where space is tight.

Why would I need a wrist strap?

There can be times when you need the freedom of movement you get by holding your camera or binoculars freehand. When you do, the neck strap can too long and flap around getting in the way, and going freehand can bring a risk of dropping your camera or binoculars. You can offset this by wrapping the neck strap around your wrist, but a wrist strap offers you a less bulky solution.

Can I use my current neck strap?

In the majority of cases, yes. Instead of buying a strap with the clip attached, you can buy the Connect Clip DLX (for a camera strap) or the Optic Guard Clip DLX (for a binocular strap) and attach it to the end of your strap. Simply attach the clip to the end of your strap in the same way as you would attach it to your camera or binoculars.

Can I use a Connect neck strap or wrist strap on my binoculars?

Yes. The clip system is interchangeable and will work fine, but we would recommend using the Optic Guard Tethers. These are a little longer and allow you to attach the eyepiece covers to your strap. You can either buy these separately or use the tethers supplied with the lightweight Optic Guard Harness or the Optic Guard Harness DLX.
